If you see the Camera and Microphone Access Required error in the interview, HireVue is blocked from accessing your camera and microphone.
Please note: If you are on a mobile device, please see this article for allowing camera and microphone access on an Android device, or this article for allowing access on an Apple device.
Follow the steps below to allow HireVue access to your camera and microphone, based on your browser/device:
-----CHROME/EDGE----- |
1. In the Address bar at the top of the page, click on the lock icon to the left of the site address.

2. For both ‘Camera’ and ‘Microphone’, change the option to ‘Allow’. If you do not see these options initially select "site settings" then set these to 'allow'.
Please note: The web address will vary from the screenshot because you have a unique web address for your interview. |
3. Once those changes have been made, reload your page, if not prompted to do so.

4. In the Camera and Microphone Access Required error message, click Try Again.
|
**If you are using Chrome on a Windows 10 device, and the above steps did now work, please try the following:
-----CHROME on Windows 10----- |
1. Using the search bar in the lower-left corner of your screen, please begin typing Camera Privacy Settings, and select ‘Camera Privacy Settings’ |
2. This will pull up a window where you will need to ensure that the setting 'Allow Apps to Access your Camera' is turned On, and that 'Allow Desktop Apps to Access your Camera' is turned On.

3. On the left side of the window, click into the ‘microphone’ option.
|
4. Make sure that the same settings are turned on for your microphone. |
-----SAFARI----- |
1. In the top left corner, click on the Safari, and go to ‘Preferences’
|
2. Click on the Websites tab, and select ‘Camera’ on the left side, and make sure that it is set to “Allow” for the current site
|
3. Now go into ‘Microphone’ and make sure that it is also set to “Allow”
|
4. Once these changes have been made, refresh the browser page and click 'Try Again' in the error window. |
-----FIREFOX----- |
1. Click on the lock icon to the left of the site address, you should also see the camera and microphone with a line through them here. |
2. Click on the X next to ‘Blocked’ to Clear the block on both Camera and Microphone.

3. Once the block is cleared, you will need to refresh the page, with the refresh button in the left corner, and then click ‘Try Again’ on the error screen. |
